We complete for a number of different internal trophies throughout the year. Some are shot on a single meeting, others combine scores from a number of different shoots. Many have their own physical trophy that can be proudly displayed at home by the winner and defended the following year.
The trophies we compete for are many and varied, and the intention is to allow archers of all levels to be able to participate in, and have a chance of winning, a number of trophies during the year. To this end, a number of these competitions are handicap based, allowing less experienced archers to compete alongside, and against, more experienced archers. Other competitions may not use handicaps, but instead may grant allowances for different bow styles to allow different styles to compete in the same competition (see the handicap page for a description of bow style allowances).
The trophies are detailed below, with current and past holders. They are listed in order of being shot during the year.
Where a specific, recognised, round is shot for the trophy, details of the particulars of that round can be found on our Rounds page.

Western Handicap
Current Holder: John D (adjusted score of 1465)
A handicap trophy shot as a full Western round, with 4 dozen arrows at 60 yards, and another 4 dozen at 50 yards. The 8 dozen can be split over two weeks, shooting the first distance one week, and the second distance on the next week.
Previous Winners:
2023/24 – Rosa A
2022/23 – John D
Jubilee Plate
Current Holder: Eddie C (adjusted score of 796)
This competition is shot over two days, and the best round shot over the two days will win the plate. The round shot each day will be 3 dozen at each of 3 different distances, so 9 dozen arrows in total each day. There will be a short break between each 3 dozen.
Whilst not a handicap trophy in its purest form, the round that is shot and the score adjustment depends upon a number of factors, as follows:
By default, Gents will shoot an Albion round (80y/60y/50y). Ladies will shoot a Windsor (60y/50y/40y)
This round is modified as follows:
- Age 50+ or U18 drop one distance
- Age U15 drop another distance (two in total)
- Unclassified drop one distance
- Bowman classification up one distance
- Compound up one distance
Scores are then adjusted as follows:
- Barebow adds 162 to the score
- Longbow adds 407 to the score
- Compounds deduct 80 from their score
No one will shoot further than a St George (100y/80y/60y) or shorter than a Windsor 40 (40y/30y/20y)
Previous Winners:
2023/24 – Rob P
Traditional Trophy
Current Holder: Mark S
A non-handicap trophy shot at 4 targets at different (unknown) distances, with a total of 4 dozen arrows being shot. Only traditional style bows are allowed to win the competition, though anyone can attempt it!
A “traditional” bow is defined as a wooden bow of any type – Korean, longbow, American flatbow etc.
Only wooden arrows are eligible, and no sights are allowed

The trophy is based on all the meets during the winter season, and rewards both attendance and improvement in handicap.
